8bitfuture: Snake robots could be sent into aircraft turbines. Snake-like robots are being developed to find and repair problems in plane engines, with a prototype scheduled for 2014. At around 12.5mm (1/2 inch) diameter, the tiny robots would have the agility and size to be able to navigate the internal parts of an aircraft engine, beaming back images to a technician. The robots would use UV lasers to detect tiny cracks, and a grinding tool to sand down damaged compressor blades, which currently requires a lot of time and money to be done after dismantling parts of the engine. It’s reported that the robots would be able to survive the 2000 °C temperatures at the core of a running engine. I have had it with these motherf***ing robot snakes on this motherf***ing plane!
