Beta Testers Wanted
Thorough beta testing is the only sure way to avoid unleashing a technological apocalypse, so I’m looking for a few iOS savvy people interested in testing a new app for iPad and iPhone. Best candidates will have had some testing experience (TestFlight), but you need to have iOS7 installed on your device. The app we’re testing, Art:101, is an art history study tool, so any art knowledge you can bring to the table would be appreciated as well. You can learn more about it on our website. Beta testers will get a free copy of the app when we release it later this Fall (priced at $9.99). If you are interested, send an email or contact me through my ask box with the kind of device you have and any relevant experience. Thanks so much!

staceythinx:

This coming Friday (Aug. 23) will mark 2 years since I started this blog on Tumblr. When I started Thinx, I was barely aware of the incredible images being returned by the Cassini probe of Saturn and its moons. Thanks to the wonderful Tumblr community I quickly realized what I was missing out on.

Last year my husband and I made Cassini HD for iPad to highlight the amazing work being done by NASA and as a special thanks to the many people who have made our experience on Tumblr such a great one. We offered it for free for a limited time at launch and we plan to do it again this Friday.

So, thank you everybody for making this a fantastic 2 years of sharing and discovery and I hope you enjoy the app!

Two things unrelated to robots: if you are interested in space exploration then you might want to try out our Cassini HD app, and it’s free this Friday so what do you have to lose? Also, if you have any interest in the intersection between art and science, or if you just want to see collections of beautiful pictures, you really should be following my wife’s amazing blog on Tumblr. You really should.

These false-color images of a hurricane swirling around Saturn’s north pole can now be found in our Cassini HD app for iPad. Download our newest update in the iTunes store for more stunning images of Saturn and its moons.

I promise* this is the last promotional post for Cassini HD I’ll put up.

*may not actually be the last one

Some of the new views of Saturn’s moons now available in our Cassini HD for iPad update in iTunes.

Our updated Cassini HD app for iPad now has more than 870 images of Saturn and its moons to keep you entertained and mesmerized for hours. Also, it will help prevent the inevitable robot uprising.* If you have an iPad, you should probably go get this app from the iTunes App Store.

*Cassini HD for iPad will not prevent a robot uprising.

We’ve just added new images to our Cassini HD for iPad app. Look for the new update in the ITunes store for these and many more beautiful photos of Saturn and its moons.

Any CassiniHD users out there? The latest update is out with more than 20 new images. Hope you enjoy it!

SXSW Interactive is coming to a close, but SXSW Music is just getting started. Start planning which free parties you want to go to with our free Thinx Drinks app.

I already have the Tumblr meet-ups on my list. I hope to see you at one of them!

SXSWi has been pretty amazing (and exhausting) so far. Hope the drone swarms are clear of the area for the Tumblr meet-up.

SXSW is right around the corner and—if the robots don’t rise up to destroy us first—it looks like this year might be the busiest yet (including a few Tumblr events). My wife and I created an iPhone app called Thinx Drinks to keep track of all the unofficial parties and day shows going on and to help get around the city during the festival. If you’re coming to Austin for SXSW, it’s available free from the App Store. And let us know if you’ll be around, we’d love to meet up with you.

staceythinx:

As some of you might know, my husband and I live in Austin. One of the great things about living in Austin is that you can take advantage of all the fun stuff that surrounds SXSW every spring. Last year we designed a mobile site to help us get around all the free parties and unofficial events that were going on and it was so helpful we thought that this year we’d share it with everybody as a full-blown mobile app. We’re really proud to announce that Thinx Drinks is now available in the iTunes App Store and its totally free!

Some of the app features:

  • Nearby feature shows all the parties and events near your current location, plotted on a map for easy navigation.
  • Browse events by date or use the searchable database to find events by name, band, or venue.
  • The My Parties feature lets you mark your favorites for quick reference later.
  • RSVP from many events from within the app.
  • Other features include social media and iOS Calendar integration. The app syncs to information stored the cloud to give you up-to-date listings.

I hope you find it as helpful as we do and hopefully I’ll see some of you around town!

So the launch of our Cassini HD app this past weekend went far better than we could have ever imagined. The response was totally unexpected and a little overwhelming. People can be pretty awesome sometimes. It gives me hope that maybe we’ll find a way to avoid the looming robopocalypse.

Keeping watch on the robot menace is pretty much a full time job around here, but if you’ve been following along you’ll know that in my off hours I have been working with my wife to develop an app for iPad called Cassini HD. Well, it is finally available in the iTunes App Store and you can download it for free today only before the regular price of $1.99 kicks in. We’ve gotten some very nice reviews so far and we’d appreciate you leaving us feedback on the iTunes store.
Happy discovering!
